“The A2 CofC course provided by iRed is the perfect step to take on the path to becoming a certified drone operator in the UK. Whilst thorough, the course is easy to pick up due to its manageable modules and well-structured sections.”

Bertie Eldridge, A2 CofC

“I love photography and flying drones, so taking the A2 CofC was a course I wanted to invest in. Not only could I grow, but it also gave me more freedom and confidence when flying my drone.”

Paul Watson, A2 CofC

“Recently took my A2 CofC drone pilot licence with iRed. I thought the quality of the training course material was very good and could not fault it at all – highly recommended.”

Gordon Mackenzie, A2 CofC

“Having the ability to complete this comprehensive course online during the pandemic has been brilliant. I have gained so much more knowledge from the various modules and it serves as a timely reminder to what I already knew.”

Michael Pitts, A2 CofC

“Seemed very professional and quick to respond to any questions. I liked it that you could take the test papers as many times as you liked before the exam. Pleased that I passed with a 97%!”

Mark Frampton, A2 CofC

WHY WE’RE DIFFERENT

iRed® is trusted by the UK Emergency Services, Fortune 500 companies and global brands.

Founded in 2002, we’re the only drone training provider that actively uses drones in our daily operations. This gives our in-house team of instructors – including ex-military operators –  exclusive commercial insight into enterprise drone operations.

We’re known as the sensor experts, because we believe drones are a tool to access the benefits of different sensors and payloads. This is why we’ve designed the UK’s largest range of payload-specific training courses, tailored for current commercial needs.

DRONE TRAINING FAQs

If you want to operate a drone commercially in the UK, you will need to gain either an A2 Certificate of Competency (A2 CofC) or General Visual Line-of-Sight Certificate (GVC) from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). Whilst some drones can be operated without a qualification, pilots will not be able to fly within 150m of recreational, commercial or industrial areas without one. This means that most commercial jobs will be unworkable.

In order to get a qualification, aspiring pilots will need to attend a training course at a CAA approved training centre known as a Recognised Assessment Entity (RAE).

Training ensures you are both confident and competent in operating a drone. Not only does training ensure you are less likely to have an accident when flying, but also assures clients that you are capable of carrying out a service.

Having your own drone is not essential for those attending a drone training course. However, it is recommended that delegates are in possession of, or are working towards, their Permissions for Commercial Operations (PfCO).

No – iRed® provides free drone insurance via Coverdrone for any and all practical flight assessments during your course.

Don’t worry – it happens! Our courses are packed full with lots of useful knowledge, and sometimes it can be hard to remember everything when it comes to your test or assessment – this is why we offer one free re-sit on all of drone training courses. This also gives you a chance to go through your course materials again before re-taking the test at a later date.
