Ideal for those looking to expand their drone business, the iRed® Drone Thermal Imaging Category 1 introduces the fundamentals of thermal imaging, along with industry insight into the commercial applications for thermal drone technology.

Students will study a range of cameras, including drone-mounted, tripod-mounted, and hand-held units. They’ll also look at current thermal imaging drone cameras and aerial platforms and match them to suitable commercial applications.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We supply everything that you need for the duration of your course, including thermal cameras. However, it is recommended that students bring a laptop with FLIR® Tools installed, as this will be required to process and analyse thermal images during the course.

All our courses have pre-course reading materials that are required to be completed before commencement of the course. Details of which will be sent out to you once your place has been confirmed. Students opting for an accreditation will have additional paperwork to fill out beforehand.

Owning your own thermal camera is not required, as we’ll provide the tools for the duration of your course. However, students are more than welcome to bring their own camera if they’d feel more comfortable. We recommend that if you do not own a camera beforehand, you should attend the course first before purchasing any equipment to ensure that you have gained instructors advice on which camera is best for you.

Having your own drone is not essential for those attending the course. However, to get the most from the course, it’s recommended that delegates have – or are working towards – achieving either their A2 Certificate of Competency (A2 CofC) or General Visual Line-of-Sight Certificate (GVC).

Whether you are attending in-person or virtually, our instructors are always on hand to give additional support and one-to-one mentoring where required. If you would like to have a chat away from the group, then this can be done during break times or alternatively when the session finishes each day.

Our instructors work closely with individual students on a daily basis to ensure that relevant support is in place before their final exam. Each of our courses include daily assessments, which require a 75% pass mark, however, they are there for the students benefit and can be used as revision throughout the course. The instructor will use these as a guide to see how each student is progressing throughout the course. If a student fails the final exam, they are able to resit free of charge and will be eligible for a revision session with their instructor.

All students will receive a Certificate of Attendance upon successful completion of the course. A completion certificate will be issued upon successful submission of required coursework and passing your final exam. Students opting for accreditation will also receive a BINDT certificate after successfully completing their assessment.

This course runs over 4 consecutive weekdays, with the final exam being done in the students own time. Students are given access to the exam on the final day of the course, along with instructions for their coursework submission. The process can be completed within 4-6 weeks, but there is no specific time scale as it can be completed at the student’s own pace.

We completely understand that personal and work commitments can sometimes be difficult to avoid. Whilst we make every effort to be as flexible as we can for our students, we recommend that you only book a place if you are available for the full duration of the course. If you book your place and you then become available for that specific course date, just let us know and we will discuss your options.

Don’t worry – it happens! Our courses are packed full with lots of useful knowledge, and sometimes it can be hard to remember everything when it comes to your test or assessment. This is why we offer one free re-sit for our classroom courses. This also gives you a chance to go through your course materials again before re-taking the test at a later date.

It is most important to us to ensure that every student attending our courses is aware of the commitment, time and workload that is required for their training. If you are unsure on whether a course is for you, please give us a call and we will be able to give you further information or recommend an alternative course which may be more suitable. We would always recommend chatting to a member of our team before proceeding with booking if you are not 100% sure, as you could incur fees if you change your mind later down the line.
