Sunshine is somewhat of a rarity in the UK, although recently we’ve been having somewhat random weather which has led to some gloriously sunny days, followed by heavy rain and winds. With all this sun many have been spending their weekends outside in the garden or at the beach, so it is almost inevitable that some will get sunburn – especially if they are fair skinned and forgot to put some sun-screen on. With the weekend just passed, we managed to use one of our thermal imaging cameras to capture sunburn in infrared of someone who had spent too much time outside and subsequently caught the sun quite badly.
In the thermal image below you can clearly see the effected area, which is approximately 4°C warmer than the rest of the skin:
May this be a reminder to all, to wear sun-screen if you’re going to be spending any time out in the sun!
