iRed is pleased to announce that Ray Faulkner, Managing Director of iRed and Steve Welland, our UAV Training Manager, have been invited to present on both days of the 2018 Commercial UAV Show.

The Commercial UAV Show will take place on November 14-15 at the ExCeL Centre in London. iRed will be exhibiting our latest range of UAV products, training and services at the event.

This year, we’ve been awarded two speaker slots to discuss training and accreditation for drone operators. Delivered by Ray Faulkner and Steve Welland, the presentation will discuss the different routes to accreditation and the qualifications available. Ray and Steve will also explain some of the common pitfalls encountered when starting out in industry.

Presenter – Ray Faulkner

After more than 15 years in the aviation industry, Ray Faulkner founded iRed in 2002 with the aim of bringing thermal imaging into mainstream industry. He served for many years as the Vice Chair of the UKTA, promoting the need for certified training. Ray is a PCN Category 3 thermographer, and currently sits on the BINDT Working Group that oversees the PCN certification scheme. Ray is also involved in the BSI Working Group for ISO Standards involving thermography.

Presenter – Steve Welland

Steve Welland is an ex-forces instructor, qualified drone pilot and our UAV training manager. Steve has over 25 years of mechanical engineering and RC (Remote Control) flight experience, and is a fully qualified thermographer. In addition to this, Steve has been a lead UAV engineer for the last 7 years. Alongside his training responsibilities, Steve is the in-house payload specialist for iRed, providing multispectral and thermal camera integration for our aerial inspection services.

Professional Infrared Inspections for Drone Operators

The presentation, ‘Professional Infrared Inspections for Drone Operators’, will be in Theatre 4 (RITC). The theatre is hosted by New York UAS Central, and focuses on research, innovation, training and careers within the UAV industry.

For those interested in attending, our speaking slots are for 10:30am on both Wednesday 14th November and Thursday 15th November 2018. Presentations are scheduled to last for half an hour, including five minutes for questions and answers. The theatre can seat 30 people, with some additional standing room available.
