On Saturday 30th November 2019, leading drone training providers iRed held a free taster session on drone payloads for use in specialist inspections.
Following the success of a similar event earlier in the year, Training Manager Steve Welland delivered this session to a wide range of attendees, including local drone operators, at the company’s headquarters in Emsworth. As well as providing an understanding of drone technology and different payloads, the session also demonstrated how these can be used within the commercial UAV industry.
In addition to camera set-up and aerial platform integration, the session included an introduction to a range of sensors, including visual, thermal, multispectral, and LiDAR – taking into account the different considerations and applications surrounding the software.
Delegates also had the opportunity to view and demo the latest in aerial technology, as well as learning which equipment was most suitable for their requirements and budget.
This session provided an insight into the iRed Academy’s training courses. Ideal for both new and experienced drone pilots, the Academy offers a wide range of courses, with dates scheduled throughout the year. As well as qualifications for those looking to gain their Permissions for Commercial Operations, there are also courses available to teach pilots how to use thermal imaging cameras on their drone for use in aerial thermal imaging surveys – as demonstrated during this taster session.
The iRed training team works closely with several leading academic institutions, including the University of Portsmouth, to establish new inspection techniques that are up to date with the needs of industry. The wide variety of training that the iRed Academy offers provides the perfect opportunity to develop new and fundamental skills or build on existing knowledge.
iRed are looking forward to holding further taster sessions next year.
