The free taster session will focus on using drones in agriculture and other land-based industries.

iRed are excited to host a free workshop on drone technology, in partnership with Plumpton College. This one-off taster session will introduce aerial technology and its uses within many land-based industries.

This workshop will take place at Plumpton College, based in East Sussex. Plumpton is a specialist college which offers a wide range of land-based qualifications such as agriculture, forestry, and equine management.

This session is ideal for those looking to expand their skills, knowledge, and understanding of drones. Attendees will gain an insight into the commercial UAV industry, as well as an understanding of how to pilot safely and legally in the UK.

The Use of Drones in Agriculture

iRed’s expert instructors will deliver a full introduction to aerial technology, including the science, equipment, and training involved in operating a drone. Further training allows pilots of any level of experience to discover new opportunities.

There are many applications for drone technology across different land-based industries, including agriculture and viticulture, where drones are able to capture accurate data for detailed mapping, measurement, and analysis. This allows professionals to determine crop health and make population estimations, as well as maximise yield.

Another aim of this workshop is to provide attendees with the knowledge they need to progress within the drone industry. This could be through developing their own business or by seeking further education.

Who Should Attend?

Those attending this taster session must be aged 18 or over, and will need to have a keen interest in pursuing further drone education or qualifications. However, they do not need to own a drone themselves or have any previous piloting experience. As such, it is ideal for those looking to expand their abilities, knowledge, and understanding of drones and the commercial UAV industry. This includes those who want to enter the drone industry as a profession, as well as existing pilots looking to gain additional skills.

This taster session will take place on Friday 7th February 2020, between 10 am – 12.30 pm at Plumpton College.

The session is open to Plumpton students and the general public, but spaces are limited – register your place here: https://pages.akerolabs.com/d252j/plumpton-college/drone-taster-day?fbclid=IwAR2Wspyng3IlkKbaMfyJESCRzAd2tpvKIlrC5Y1Iqg3CxYZGicBmBvWLoF0
